The NIS2 Directive is new European legislation that ensures that
organizations are better protected against cyberattacks. After all, cybercrime poses an ever-increasing threat to businesses, governments, and critical infrastructure.
With this law, the European Union aims to oblige organizations to have their digital security in better order and to report cyber incidents more quickly when they occur.
The NIS2 Directive is a successor to the previous NIS Act and sets stricter requirements for cybersecurity, risk management, and incident reporting. The law will also apply to more sectors and organizations than before.

Obligations
The new Cybersecurity Act (Cbw) also entails obligations that every organization must adhere to. These obligations are the duty of care, the reporting obligation, and the registration obligation. These points entail the following:

Duty of care – in the future, organizations must take appropriate technical and organizational measures to mitigate risks. In this context, mitigation is better than cure!

Reporting obligation – obligates organizations to report incidents to the competent parties. The initial report must be made within 24 hours, an incident report must be drawn up within 72 hours, and a final report on the incident within 1 month.

Registration requirement – organizations falling under the new legislation are required to register in the official register of entities.
