Tips for WiFi optimization

A stable and secure internet connection is a requirement. There can be several causes for not having an internet connection, but the most common problems are WiFi access points, firewalls, switches or other network equipment. Router placement

The correct placement of your router is crucial for a good WiFi connection. Place the router in a central location, this ensures that the signal is optimally distributed.

A mesh network is a network of multiple WiFi points that work together for perfect coverage in the office. This ensures a strong signal, ideal for large rooms or multiple floors.

2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency band?

WiFi

Most routers are suitable for 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands. The 2.4GHz band has a greater range, while the 5GHz frequency has higher speeds and less interference. If you are near the router, use the 5 GHz band and the 2.4 GHz band if you are further away.

A wired connection is more stable and faster than a wireless connection. It is recommended to use an Ethernet cable in fixed locations, especially for heavier tasks such as downloading large files or streaming 4K videos.

Latest firmware

Make sure your router is up to date with the latest firmware. Manufacturers regularly release updates to resolve any issues and optimize performance. Additionally, check whether your router meets the latest WiFi standards, such as 802.11ac or 802.11ax.

If your router is not strong enough to reach the entire office, you can use a WiFi extender or repeater. These devices ensure that the signal becomes stronger and the range increases. Connect the extender or repeater halfway between the router and the area where you want to boost the signal.
