Ask Siri to turn on the lights, set the thermostat, and control all the products you use at home

- even when you are not at home.

Siri knows which HomeKit accessories are configured in the Home app and what their status is. Siri identifies your accessories by their name, location, and other information you've added to them in the Home app. And if you set up a HomePod2, Apple TV or an iPad as a home hub, you can use Siri to control your home wherever you are.

Turning accessories on or off

From lights to appliances, Siri can turn your HomeKit accessories on or off. Just say "Hey, Siri" and then something like:

"Turn on the lights."

"Turn off the fan."

"Turn on the light switch."

"Turn on the heater."

Customizing an accessory

Siri can customize some HomeKit accessories, such as lights or a thermostat. Say "Hey, Siri" and then something like:

"Set the temperature to 20 degrees."

"Set the downstairs brightness to 50%."

"Turn the lights in the living room all the way on."

"Turn the lights in the bedroom blue."

Control an accessory at a specific time

Plan your day by asking Siri now to turn on accessories later.

Just say "Hey, Siri" and then something like:

"Lock the front door at 8 p.m."

"Open the living room curtains at sunrise."

"Turn off the bedroom fan at noon."

"Turn on outdoor lights at sunset."

Control a room or zone

If you organize your accessories by room or zone, you can control parts of your home with a single command.

Say "Hey, Siri" and then say, for example:

"Turn off the light downstairs."

"Turn on the fan in the office."

"Heat the upstairs."

Controlling a room with HomePod

If you have a HomePod, you can control all the HomeKit accessories in the room it's in with a single command.

Just say "Hey, Siri" and then something like:

"Turn off the light."

"Turn on the fan."

"Turn off the light switch."

Configuring a scene with Siri

Scenes allow you to control multiple accessories at once. And with Siri, you can set a scene using only your voice.

Here are some examples:

"Hey, Siri, good night."

"Hey, Siri, I'm home."

"Hey, Siri, set my scene for reading."

Checking the status of your home

Are you lying in bed and want to know if you forgot to turn off the light downstairs? Siri knows. Just say "Hey, Siri" and then ask Siri something like:

"Are the lights still on downstairs?"

"Is the garage door open?"

Control your accessories remotely

If you've configured a home hub, you can ask Siri to control your home when you're not home. Say "Hey, Siri" and then something like:

"Lock the front door."

"Turn off the light in the Chicago home."

"Set the home Holiday Home to 22 degrees."

"Turn on my security system."
